For a Good Latvia
For a Good Latvia ((ラトビア語:Par Labu Latviju!), also known as (AŠ)²)〔http://www.baltic-course.com/eng/markets_and_companies/?doc=28093〕 was a Latvian right-wing party alliance founded on 22 April 2010 by the People's Party, Latvia's First Party/Latvian Way, the businessmen's movement For a Good Latvia and some smaller parties.〔http://balticreports.com/?p=15530〕〔http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zz.lv%2Fportals%2Fvietejas%2Fraksts.html%3Fxml_id%3D22168&sl=lv&tl=en〕 The initial name (AŠ)² referred to the initials of the party leaders of the People's Party (Andris Šķēle) and LPP/LC (Ainārs Šlesers).〔http://www.baltictimes.com/news/articles/25640/〕 Both major parties participating had been doing badly in the polls.〔http://www.angus-reid.com/polls/view/34934/harmony_centre_is_most_popular_latvian_party〕 It was often regarded as the oligarchs' bloc〔http://www.gorod.lv/novosti/117611-blok_oligarhov_ischet_soyuznikov_v_koalitsii〕〔http://www.gorod.lv/novosti/131027-blok_oligarhov_nezakonno_potratil_na_vyiborah_44000_latov〕 of the Latvian politics. The bloc itself was headed by former Latvian president Guntis Ulmanis. In the 2010 parliamentary election it won a disappointing 8 seats and did not join the governing coalition.
In July 2011 the People's Party was dissolved and Ainārs Šlesers' LPP/LC renamed itself the Ainars Šlesers LPP/LC Reform Party, by analogy with the Zatlers' Reform Party. The parliamentary faction of "For a Good Latvia", however, continued to exist until the end of the 10th Saeima and was headed by Edgars Zalāns. In the elections of September 2011, Ainars Šlesers LPP/LC Reform Party failed to win any seats.
